“Rhode Island is small, quaint, and full of character. It’s blue and beige and a touch green. Salty air travels for miles. The air always has a more thickness to it than other New England states. It smells like the Atlantic, but as you make your way inland there seems to always be the scent of food with roots in a variety of cultures. Rhode Islanders are proud of their Portuguese and Italian ancestry. There’s not much open space until you get to the coast. Highways can be seen from anywhere you stand. The lights of the capital light up the sky for miles around. Small a farms blend into suburbia which yield to the city which relaxes into the suburbs which expands to the farms until you reach the ocean. But the of call the ocean is felt even from the most northern town.”
